Asystec are proud to announce our latest employee initiative ‘Go Bloody Home’– Time off for Asystec Blood Donors.

Go Bloody Home is a new initiative launched by Asystec whereby the organisation will allow employees to donate blood during the work day or leave work early to donate blood.

3,000 donations are needed each week in Ireland to keep up with the constant demand for blood and 1 in 4 Irish people will need a blood transfusion at some point in their lives. For those that are able and willing to give blood we can all play our part and make a difference.

The campaign will see Asystec schedule group outings to nearby blood donation clinics when possible. Our first group outing will happen later today as members of our Dublin office will attend Luttrellstown Community Centre Blood Clinic from 5pm today.

Other scheduled outing include:

  • Cork Office – January 13th (5.00 – 8.30pm)
The GAA Pavilion Ballincollig, Co Cork
  • Limerick Office – January 21st (5.00 – 8.30pm)
    South Court Hotel, Raheen, Limerick

Here at Asystec we believe in the concept of paying it forward and that no good deed should go unrewarded and so we just wanted to implement something small to say ‘well done’ to those employees that donate their blood says HR Manager Tara Charnley.

Due to the recent lift of the ‘UK blood donation ban’ which had been put in place during an epidemic of Mad Cow Disease, Asystec hope that many more of our employees will be able to get involved and donate.

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is always delighted to see companies take the initiative and facilitate their employees with time off to attend blood donation clinics. We need blood 365 days per year and every donor and donation counts, and anything that encourages or facilitates donors is invaluable. We hope to see more and more companies take the same approach as Asystec in the future”. says Aileen Browne, IBTS Area Manager Limerick.

With clinics all across Ireland donating has never been easier and we are proud to play are part. Why not check out the Irish Blood Transfusion Service Website and find a clinic close to you.
